About Ranson Barnes

Ranson Barnes was born in July 2024, nearly 16 years to the day after the two co-founders first met at Office Angels Sheffield in July 2008. At that time, Ranson (Carl) was a fresh-faced Business and HR graduate eager to make his mark, while Barnes (Craig) was an experienced recruiter continuing his successful career.

They hit it off right away, bonding over their shared enthusiasm for working hard and playing even harder. Craig naturally took on the role of mentor and older brother, guiding Carl through his recruitment journey.

A year later, Carl was offered an opportunity with one of his clients and spent the next 15 years climbing the corporate ladder across two businesses, excelling in Sales, Business Development, and Account Management roles. He worked with some of the biggest high street brands in the UK, gaining valuable experience in building and nurturing working relationships that now benefit both candidates and clients seeking the perfect match.

Meanwhile, Craig continued to grow and evolve within the Recruitment Industry, perfecting his craft over the 21 years. Working within small startups to medium-sized scale-ups, and managing branches in one of the UK’s largest recruitment firms. He never lost his passion for connecting the perfect person with the perfect company, regardless of his seniority he ‘remained on the tools’. Craig’s extensive tenure and in depth knowledge of the local market benefit everyone involved in the recruitment cycle.

Fast forward to May 2024, after a reflective beer, Craig and Carl realised it was time for a change. Now older, wiser (and a lot greyer) and with a refreshed perspective, they envisioned launching Ranson Barnes Recruitment Ltd. Their goal was to revive an ‘old school’ recruitment company where people and relationships come first, and financial targets take a backseat.

Today, they are eager to connect with outstanding companies and exceptional candidates, each ready to take their next step toward growth and success.
